The Platinum Jubilee
I hope you all enjoy yourselves in the Jubilee celebrations this weekend. We are privileged to experience The Platinum Jubilee and we will not experience another one in our lifetime. What a remarkable lady our Queen is to dedicate her whole life to the duty of our country and to withstand family heartaches and the despair of war.
I wanted to share with you some pieces from an article I have read:-
Following the crises of King Edward VIII’s abdication and King George taking the throne, his greatest legacy is that once unassuming young princess – Elizabeth. While queen Elizabeth II was not born to rule, her 70- years on the throne have seen her undoubtedly become one of the greatest monarchs, heads of state, diplomats and international unifiers these isles and the world have ever known.
The queen took over a ream in serious hardship, after a war which had left many loved ones dead, homes destroyed, an empire fracturing and the economy in tatters. Her legacy will always be one of unity, even at times of great divide. She exemplifies duty in everything she does.
In her famous 21st birthday speech she said “I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong. So we have much to thank her for and much to celebrate.
